EL PASO, Texas – Texas Governor Greg Abbott delivered remarks at the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new Schneider Electric El Paso power plant on Thursday.
The Governor was joined by Schneider Electric North America CEO Annette Clayton, North America President Aamir Paul, and Global Supply Chain Senior Vice President Javed Ahmad; El Paso Mayor Oscar Leeser; Borderplex Alliance CEO John Barela; and other local leaders.
The ceremony was held at 10 a.m. at the new plant located at 1600 Northwestern Drive.
Schneider Electric will officially open its brand new 160,000-square-foot manufacturing plant Thursday.
The new factory will be Schneider’s fourth in the city and its 22nd in the U.S., making El Paso home to Schneider Electric’s largest manufacturing footprint in the country.
Schneider Electric’s expansion will add 400 new employees in the region, which is already home to nearly half of Schneider Electric’s 2,800 Texas employees.
The manufacturing facility will produce customized low-voltage switchboards that distribute electricity to one or more sources in commercial settings.
The expansion is part of Schneider Electric’s $100 million investment in North America that was announced in 2021 to increase domestic manufacturing production and speed of delivery to customers in North America.
